Research activities and aims
The Minerva Center focuses on scintific research in the fields of evolution, genomics and systems biology. The model organisms will be microbial species, worm and humans. The center combines forces of 8 labs from Israel, Germany, and France, who employ various aspects of this exciting paradigm. Spanning the range from bacteria to yeast, worm, and cancer, and combining cutting-edge experimental techniques with modeling and bioinformatics, the team will broaden and deepen the understanding of the mechanism and dynamics of evolution. Lab evolution is a powerful paradigm for the study in evolution, in which (micro) organisms are evolved in a test tube towards various environmental and genetic challenges.
